Benefits

Staff

Our programs are conducted by teams of experienced teachers qualified in Special Education. They are supported in their roles by teacher aides and visiting consultants such as speech pathologists, child psychologists and curriculum advisers.

Class Sizes

We have a ratio of one teacher to every six students and as a result offer small class sizes and enhanced opportunities for individual attention and assistance.

Individual Programs

A major aspect of each student’s learning at the school is a carefully structured curriculum and an Individual Education Program. This is developed in partnership between the school and the child’s family.

Environment

The school offers a safe and caring learning environment. The large modern building of the main campus is complemented by attractive recreational grounds with passive and active play areas. Our Annexe building is located nearby in a light industrial and retail environment where students gain real life work education experiences.

Parent Support

An important function of the school is to offer support to parents and to report on student’s progress. Parents have many opportunities to receive information on a child’s academic and social progress. For example, we have daily communication books and diaries and hold regular reporting days. In addition parents are welcome to make direct contact with teachers, the parent liaison person or the principal as the need arises. Other avenues for parent participation include the School Council, a Parents and Friends Association and a regular newsletter.

Student Welfare

Among the priorities of our school is the provision of a supportive structure for the welfare of students and a positive social environment in which all students feel valued and safe. Accordingly students are encouraged to develop self discipline and a sense of worth, to respect the rights and feelings of others and to take responsibility for their own actions.
