The Primary Program
The primary program caters for young people aged from 5 to12 years. Within this age range, the students are placed in Junior or Intermediate classes.
Purpose
The exciting Primary Program provides high quality early learning experience for young students, focusing on the development of basic academic, physical and social skills.
Curriculum
Caring teachers guide and support each student through positive and successful learning experiences. This stage is vitally important in preparing young students to achieve their potential in the years ahead.
An important focus of the Primary Program is the development of reading, writing and mathematical skills. Individual learning needs are established and accommodated ensuring that each student is provided with appropriate learning activities.
Participation in an extensive arts, technology and physical education program develops an awareness of music, dance, art, computer and physical wellbeing.
Social skills are developed through a basic independence program which encourages students to assume an appropriate level of personal responsibility for self care, personal hygiene and grooming.
Regular community excursions enhance learning opportunities to enable students to develop a wider understanding of themselves and the community.
Class Sizes
The small class sizes are particularly valuable because they provide better opportunities for teachers to focus on each individual student’s needs.
Parent Participation
Parents are invited to work co-operatively with teachers to take advantage of these early years of optimum learning.
Parental involvement is encouraged through the development of an Individual Eduction Program, on-going reporting processes and communication booklets which ensure parents are kept well informed of their child’s progress.
